Tales of the Urban Wild: A Puma’s Journey
Marketing and promotional collateral for a graphic novel.

In 2023, the author of the graphic novel, “Tales of the Urban Wild: A Puma’s Journey”, wanted to promote their new book online and through different types of media, including through social media as well as live events.
Highlighting Science and Art in Storytelling
As a graphic novel, it was important to showcase the beautiful illustrations from the book on the promotional website. In addition to making sample pages available, additional artwork from the illustrator was used to draw in visitors into the website and capture their interest in the book.

Lightweight and Easy to Update
Knowing that the website will be partially maintained by the author, it needed to be lightweight and easy to update. I opted to build a custom website using Jekyll and Ruby on rails, with the content structured within YAML files. This provided a simple text-based interface for making quick updates to the copy on the website.
Digital Media & Print
Over the course of the graphic novel’s release, several live and remote events were scheduled. As a part of the marketing work to publicize these events, we created social media graphics that can be shared online.
In addition to digital media graphics, several posters were created to promote the larger events related to the launch events for the book.
